Probably one of my favorite pirate characters of all time, meet Percival. He is a vampire who is power-hungry, and I have fun playing him. It is possible this dude will show up in one of my stories…. This was written in October <3
Name;Percival Voltaire Evans
Nickname; Ci, or Perci, Voltaire. Whatever floats your boat.
Gender; Male. Totally, 100% male.
Height; 5’9
Age;29.
Species;Eh.. used to be human, but now a Vampire. Life is horrible.
Appearance;
Percival has brown eyes, with short dark brown hair. He has a muscular and average build that is neither fat or thin, standing up to a short 5’9. He wears dark colors, and always seems to have a sad smile on his face. His nose is a little bit sharp, and he has a scar that is on his neck, and another that goes from the back of his shoulder, to the middle of his back. He has rounded ears and pinkish thin lips, with dark eye brows. His arms are strong and so is his legs, and his nails are perfectly cut. His hair is never combed, and he goes barefoot whenever he can. He has very sharp, pointy fangs and dimples on the side. He has a small scar right under his left ear.
Percival has pale skin, though he is able to get his skin to a normal color when he stays out in the sun to long, even though this hurts him. He also puts his hair in a little ponytail if he knows his hair will get in the way. He wears loose clothing and very little jewelry, as he doesn’t like to “show off”. He has a pierced right ear, and has a tattoo with a 656R on the back of his neck.
Personality;
Percival is wild, to say it bluntly. He is cold and rude, to an extent. He is very bossy, and very unpredictable. He is also clever and sneaky, making up plans and pranks to do when he has the time. He is very violent with his actions, and is a rash decision maker, and he is a practical thinker. He doesn’t have any imagination, and he hates to read. He hates to even think about history, so he focuses on the future more than the past. He also is a very quiet man, who only talks when he needs to. He also tends to lean toward intelligence rather than strength. He doesn’t care very much about rules, but he has some control so when ever he sees an authority or someone who will give him a really bad time, he can play the good guy. He is a very, very actor and and skilled lier.
Being a vampire, he is fascinated with, well, death and blood. He can control himself only a little bit, and if a person is bleeding, he won’t be able to control himself at all. He hates to share, and is a pretty big sinner. He is rarely helpful to anyone, and he rarely does anything unless he gets something out of it. He loves steering the ship and sailing, and likes to sing his sea-faring songs. He has a very good, clear voice for singing decently too. Percival is a very animated man, and has trouble being still. He has very dark humor, and usually laughs at things that aren’t funny at all. He loves to hunt and see things die… Oh, and he loves to study poisons.
He is very harsh and a very dark person. He is wild, meaning he prefers to live outside of civilization and not be around people. He likes to be the outsider, and he likes to destroy village and steal from the rich and poor. A typical pirate he is!
History;
Percival Voltaire Evans was born last of his siblings on a unusually sunny day on the 4th of december. He was human then, and he was a healthy, curious little boy who always wanted to play games. They all lived on a peaceful port village, so he regularly was exposed to sailors and the ship life. He always had liked to take a dip in the sea when it was warm enough, and well, didn’t really think about consequences or dangers. The village had knights for protection, since the people there were insecure. Pirates were around, and the village was very wealthy. There were hidden spots with money all around the land, for safe keeping of the residents. But, everyone said that the village was too good for anything bad, and plus, the knights were strong. Soon enough, the virus of the pirate rumor was gone, and Percival’s childhood was peaceful and full of happiness. Ok, so he had older siblings who annoyed him, but everyone went through that. There was one point in his life were he became a page, and everyone was proud of him. To be a knight was a very honorable job to him back then, and he wanted to be honorable.
when he was 12 years old, the village was attacked by nasty pirates wanting some gold. Well, the knights fought back… though it was 14 to 30, and the pirates were just too strong. They burned houses, spilled some blood, ended some lives and violated some women. There was one in particular who was extremely greedy, and saw Percival kill one of his crew mates with one of his master’s knives. Seeing the potential, the pirate, named Goth, grabbed the boy and tied him up, threatening to kill him if he uttered a single sound. Quickly, Goth stole to the ship, which looked dark and sinister near the shadows of the fires, and ran to board, pushing away people who were trying to rescue the young trainee. As quick as lighting, Goth dragged Percival to the lower deck, and hid him among the hay with the ship, not caring if rats were in the hay pile. That was the end of Percival’s happy days, and he wouldn’t see any of his family for years.
The village attacked, the pirates got away with 4% of the village wealth, and now had 5 slaves to play with. Percival stayed in the lower deck for days with nothing, hiding and trying to think of a way to escape. They were miles away when he finally got a outline of a plan. Percival ended up becoming the cabin boy of the ship, cleaning the smelly, foul cabins of the cruel pirates who called themselves something that he never wanted to remember. He was punished so many times that it was almost unbearable, and he was hated among the crew. Percival in turn hated them, but wished he was at least mildly liked. Never in his life had he seen so much hunger for power, so much violence… and he grew to like it.
At 14, the captain decided it was time to get rid of this cabin boy. “Alright, son. I’ll give you a choice.” The captain said to him one day, forcing the boy to the ground. “You can die a painful death, or we can sell you as a slave at the next stop. Or, you can become one of us, and do everything we say.” Guess what little percival picked? He didn’t didn’t want to be a slave, I’ll tell you that! So he became a young pirate, though his life didn’t improve. He was still the youngest, and still abused. However, he learned the pirate’s life, and learned how to work with weapons and fight. He became cold, trying to block out the emotional pain the crew gave him, and love? whatever he had of it and whatever knowledge he had of it was long gone. No, he had to fight to survive, and love was last on the survival list.
At 18, a new girl arrived on the ship as a new crew member, and she was as beatiful as the full moon on a cloudy night. Percival ignored her for the most part, until he made the mistake of saying something about females out loud. The captain got a great idea then, and spread it around as a virus throughout the crew, who kept it a secret. Finally, when the crew held a “meeting” the captain demanded that Percival Voltaire (the name the crew had given him) wed the maid at the next stop. Percival was horrified.
But, not wanting death, he married upon force, and with onlookers went through the requirements of marriage. The maid was a vampire, and this was the other pirate’s cruel joke. They all knew in time, the vampire will turn the human vampire….they just didn’t know when. They eventually had a kid, and named her Anya. The pirates surprisingly left the little girl alone. Goth was the one who gave her a doll, which she still has today. Well, time passed, and he became a very good navigator.
However, something else happened that would change his attitude on life. His wife, knowing that he was human, wanted to turn him so they could “live forever, together” and at this Percival didn’t want. He was scared, and he knew that she was seriously thinking of turning him. He got up his defenses, and avoided her as best he could, looking after Anya with a keen eye. At the next stop, his wife tricks him into a cave and turns him into a vampire, leaving Percival confused, angry, and hurt. Very, very hurt.
Well, knowing all about the bad side of life, he wanted his revenge. A year passed. Then a storm came, and Percival, seeing his chance, accidently pushed his wife off the ship, killing her. So much for living forever.
He grabbed the steering wheel of the ship and sailed them out of the storm, which made him a hero.
Eventually, probably at 26, he stepped on land and gave up the sailor’s life and tried to live in society again. It didn’t exactly work… he was exiled from Zireling after he broke a couple big laws, which he didn’t mind. Civilized people were just too….innocent for his taste. He did find his family when he was back in the kingdom, however, he couldn’t really relate to them anymore because….so much had changed. He was happy that they knew he was alive at least, since he had been unable to contact them until age 27. He was put into the dungeon at least twice for a couple of offenses, and he had been in court four times in 2 years. Life didn’t improve and at 29 he decided to go back to sailing, but this time he wanted to be honored and respected. He wanted to be a captain!
He tried sailing with a couple different ships, trying to become known and trying to get the experience so when he became captain he would know exactly what to do. Now, he is currently the first mate on the Voyager.

Friends; His daughter could be considered a “friend”. Other than that, he has none.
Enemies; Everyone who gets in his way, and everyone who is unkind to him. The bible is also an enemy…
Abilities; He has the normal abilities of a vampire, and he can steer a ship pretty well. Oh, and swimming? He is a natural at that.
Weaknesses; Family, Land, pain, love, his daughter, leaders, the law, knights… fire, and also, heights. Oh, and he is scared of being marooned, and/or becoming a slave. The sun, garlic, and crosses.
Other;
