The poem is about the main character Paul-Edward Logan who is in the book The Land By Mildred D. Taylor
I am from my daddy’s land
Where it is magical and green
Where horses graze and cattle stay
In the land of Georgia
I am from Africa, Europe and
I have Native American blood
My Grandfather was Kanati
In the land of Georgia
I am from a slave
A plantation owner
A white man and black woman
In the land of Georgia
I am from my daddy’s land
Where crops are farmed
And share croppers are like slaves
In the land of Georgia
I have 3 white brothers
Who helped school me
Who were friends; who betrayed me
In the land of Georgia
My family become foes
My foe became a friend
I had learned a lot
In the land of Georgia
I am from my daddy’s land
Where I grew up
My childhood
In the land of Georgia
My mother deborah birthed me and Cassie
She gave us a box of treasures
So we could have something of our own
In the land of Georgia
I loved my daddy’s land
It was vast and efficent
I was born on it
In the land of Georgia
I had to runaway
Away from my white daddy
Away from the plantation land
In the land Georgia
I am from my daddy’s Land
In the land of Georgia
