Earlier this week, Mrs. Whimsley was walking home from Grangier Middle School. It was just a normal day, quiet and peaceful in the neighborhood. But then, something squealed, which was out of the ordinary. The science teacher froze in the middle of the sidewalk.
“I was just driving in the street, and this…thing….came slithering in front of my car” Ginger Worm, a local, recalled.
The “thing” is called an American dog Lizard. It is about 3 feet in height, 8 feet in length, and has about 50 sharp teeth. It had slithered over to the sidewalk which the science teacher had been standing on, and ran the teacher to the ground. luckily, her backpack cushioned her fall, and she did not get any major injuries.
“This komodo dragon… lizard…ran me over like it didn’t even see me…and just kept on walking like nothing had happened.”Mrs. Whimsley says.
Mrs. whimsley had called the area’s zoo, and the team had caught the lizard 10 miles away, sniffing at a rose bush in a residents yard.
“That is one fast lizard” the zoo manager said yesterday. “I’m glad we found it when we did”
The next day, when her 7th grade class asked what happened when they saw her bruises the teacher told them that she had “slipped”. Later on, they heard the real story.
“I wish I could be run over by a lizard….I love those animals!”says Emily Thimer, one of the students.
Mrs. whimsley is still a bit shocked about what happened, and believes that in the future, people will think she is a crazy old lady if she tells people about the incident.
“Its like what happens in fantasy books-its unreal!”The teacher announces.
The lizard is now in the Paylo park zoo, where it has a nice and safe, home.
“if that ever happens again,” says Whimsley, ” I am going to go on vacation right away”
